Prof. Dr. Nicolas Rothen ist Rektor und ausserordentlicher Professor an der Fakultät Psychologie.

Prof. Dr. Nicolas Rothen ist Rektor und ausserordentlicher Professor an der Fakultät Psychologie. Er hat seinen Doktortitel in Psychologie an der Universität Bern (Institut für Psychologie) im Jahr 2009 erhalten. Nach seinem Doktorat und einem einjährigen Postdoc an der Universität Bern forschte er für viereinhalb Jahre an der School of Psychology und dem Sussex Centre for Consciousness Science an der University of Sussex (UK). Nach dieser Zeit ist er mit einem eigenen Forschungsprojekt an die Universität Bern zurückgekehrt, wo er im Jahr 2016 die Habilitation (Venia Docendi) für das Gesamtfach Psychologie erhalten hat. Seit 2018 arbeitet er an der FernUni Schweiz, zuerst als Assistenzprofessor und seit 2020 als Ausserordentlicher Professor. Seit 2024 hat er das Amt des Rektors ad-interim inne und wurde 2025 zum Rektor ernannt.

FernUni Schweiz und Idiap stärken Partnerschaft für Master in Künstlicher Intelligenz Die FernUni Schweiz und das Forschungsinstitut Idiap bauen ihre Zusammenarbeit im Bereich Künstliche Intelligenz aus und entwickeln den Master of Science in Artificial Intelligence gemeinsam weiter. Der erste Fernstudien-Master in Künstlicher Intelligenz der Schweiz wurde vollständig überarbeitet und ist mit 55 Studierenden ins Herbstsemester 2026 gestartet.

Akkreditierung FernUni Schweiz Forschung

FernUni Schweiz engagiert sich für vorbildliche Forschungspraktiken In Zusammenarbeit mit der Universität Zürich und der HES-SO lanciert die FernUni Schweiz das Projekt «Open Online Course in Good Research Practices»: ein innovatives Programm zur Förderung guter wissenschaftlicher Praxis bei Doktorierenden und Postdocs. Geleitet wird diese ambitionierte Initiative von Prof. Dr. Matthias Voigt, Assistenzprofessor für Mathematik mit Tenure Track an der FernUni Schweiz.

Wir kehren das klassische Narrativ des Lernens um In einem überfüllten Vorlesungssaal den ausufernden Monologen von Professorinnen und Professoren lauschen. Rektor ad interim an der FernUni Schweiz Der Vizerektor Forschung, Prof. Dr. Nicolas Rothen, hat das Amt des Rektors ad interim übernommen.

Research focus

Die Forschungsschwerpunkte von Nicolas Rothen liegen hauptsächlich in den Bereichen Gedächtnis und Wahrnehmung. In seinen Experimenten untersucht er das Zusammenspiel von Wahrnehmung und Gedächtnis in gesunden Versuchspersonen und gesunden Spezialpopulationen (z.B. Synästhetikern). Seine Experimente beruhen primär auf Verhaltensdaten, Elektroenzephalographie, aber auch elektrodermaler Aktivität und transkranieller Magnetstimulation.
Weiter Interessen liegen in den Bereichen tageszeitabhängiger kognitiver Leistungen, internetbasierter Datenerhebung, und der Erforschung und Nutzung etablierter Lernprinzipien in seiner Lehre an der FernUni Schweiz.
