Conference and workshop with Prof. Tim Fawns, Monash University (Australia)
How can we ensure the integrity of remote assessments in a time of generative AI?
Over the last three years, Australian universities have engaged in extensive reform efforts to address the challenges that generative AI poses to assessment integrity. Drawing on his experience in national working groups, his own teaching and research in distance education, and the implementation efforts at Monash University, Prof. Tim Fawns will share the diverse strategies adopted across Australian institutions and the challenges they have faced. What lessons can we take from Australia’s large-scale assessment reform to strengthen academic integrity and rethink how we design for learning in a digital world?
Reserved for UniDistance Suisse teaching staff
Together, we will analyse specific UniDistance programmes to assess the integrity of current assessments and explore ways to strengthen them.
Prof. Tim Fawns participated in the two national working groups of the Australian Tertiary Education Quality and Standards Agency (TEQSA) to first develop the principles and propositions for assessment reform, and then how to put these into practice. He is currently working on the design and implementation of assessment reform at Monash University. Tim has over 16 years of experience in distance education in both teaching and research.
