A non-vanishing result for Bloch--Kato Selmer groups of cuspforms

The Bloch--Kato conjecture is one of the foundational conjectures in algebraic number theory, predicting a precise relationship between L-functions and Bloch--Kato Selmer groups. In this talk, based on joint work with Muhammad Manji and Frederick Thøgersen, I will sketch a non-vanishing result for certain Bloch--Kato Selmer groups attached to cuspforms via families of Galois representations over small parabolic eigenvarieties of GSp(4).
